Forestry and Land Scotland is the largest provider of outdoor recreation in Scotland. Over the last few years there has been a growth of staycations which has put high visitor demand on our visitor destinations. We expect 2023 will be busier than ever with a predicted increase in Staycations and visitors from around the world coming to Scotland for the UCI Cycling World Championships. The Seasonal Rangers over the last two years have had a huge impact in ensuring visitors get a good experience and any issues are dealt with quickly.
Each Seasonal Ranger will be located within a Region, as part of the regional Visitor Services Team. Each region is composed of a five functions: Business Services, Delivery, Planning and Environment, Estates Development and Visitor Services & Communities. The Regions are also supported by national staff including a National Visitor Services and Communities team. The work at both Regional and National level around visitor services is supported with partnerships with Scottish Government, Police Scotland, Scottish Fire & Rescue, Local Authorities, National Parks, Visit Scotland, Nature Scot and others.
